These pieces are not flat, the figures are solid.
"I'm pooped" Nautical expression from when the cockpit or deck is swamped by a wave or big sea. A sailor is "pooped out" after a big sea crashes on him. The poop deck was high in the stern and a sea that reached it would have to be high.
